Hmm Donald Glaude and Andy Hughes, looks interesting. |
I hope Donald gets more support than he did the last time he was in Tampa, which if i remember correctly was back in 98. Suzy and I saw him at an old club called the Edge. There were 4 people there for his set, including me and Suzy. Donalds set was very, very banging from start to finish. The music was so hard, it reminded us of the old hardcore days. About halfway through the set Donald accidently picked the needle up off of the record that was playing, causing the club to go silent. Donald yelled "sorry," real loud, then he slammed the needle back down onto the record, bringing back the banging beats. This was right around the time i was learning to dj so it was interesting to see how an A list dj handled playing to an empty room and also how to recover from a major screw up.
As for Andy Hughes, he was one of my favs back in the 90's. You could usually count on him for trancey progressive sets. Hes got a bunch of old mixes from the casette tape days on his website www.andyhughes.com My favorite one on there is called Instant Karma from 96.
