ouch! lotsa fond memories there seeing tiesto spin there just before his december commodore show in 2001 and the good old days when i can walk in and actually find decent trance records to buy. its a shame to see it go.

HOLY CRAP, how come??? give us the details. This really sucks, Virgin is like a Vancouver landmark to me. Cheap ass vinyls, yet, they have been lacking in the quality.
This really sucks
HMV bought it so it'll just be one of their stores instead of a virgin mega store

Well, they do have the largest EDM selection in town, but they are kinda $$$. It's about time HMV comes back downtown. I used to enjoy going to their Robson store to listen to CDs. They are also kinda $$$ though. HMV currently has a really shitty EDM section. It keeps getting smaller and smaller. Future Shop is shitty too. A&B Sound Seymour has a so-so selection but better prices. All the other A&B stores suck for selection.

am i the only one who finds virgin prices ok?
this really blows chunks. i love virgin! they have a great selection for a city like vancouver. hmv is nothing compared to virgin, not only in edm selection. its a real shame that now we'll be stuck with zero variety. and i dont only mean for vinyl, cause for that you can always go to boomtown and whatever other shops. in terms of CD buying, i dont think i've bough a single CD from anywhere else in the last 3-4 years, i always go to virgin. now i'll have to go shop on kazaa

They said on the news that Virgin had a problem making money because the prices are lower in Vancouver than in most Cdn cities.
It's such a big store that HMV must be planning on having a lot more variety than in their other locations.
Not that I'll be visiting there just to buy a few CDs considering the transportation hassles, it's better to buy online.

No Elena, I totally find the prices there to be pretty good!
This totally sucks coz they do have a large EDM section upstairs there, and to me it's a bonus that they have vinyl as well. Devastating news to me

yeah there prices were reasonable. i liked it more when all the vinyls were downstairs. i don't know, its just something about going down underground/basement for EDM music that makes it feel good. haha
if HMV is taking over, i don't think i would mind. i've been told that HMV used to sell very good vinyl on robson back in the day so hopefully with this big location, they will bring the plastic back.
