Why not to see Tiësto In Concert....

quote:
Tiësto In Concert USA tour

Tiёsto and Angel LIVE, the touring division of Godskitchen, are expanding the Tiёsto In Concert extravaganza to the US market.

Aiming for a tour that reaches far beyond the established DJ show, Tiёsto and Angel LIVE have created a sensory driving four-hour production. The production features the signature Tiёsto LED surrounded DJ booth, as well as a three story LED wall. In addition, visually stunning elements, such as a massive pyrotechnics and special effects show.

Enhancing the intense visuals and adding an electric and magical atmosphere to the mix, the show will include more than thirty performances including aerial acts, Butoh dancers, Samba and Taiko drummers, flying Geishas, singers and Carnival showgirls. The performers will surround Tiёsto in two different acts, as part of the Around the World theme of the tour. Distinctive visual programming will take the audience on a dazzling trek that begins in America and traverses the globe, accented with live performance segments from South America, Asia and other countries.

“The Tiёsto In Concert events in The Netherlands were among the greatest nights of my life and real milestones in my career,” concludes Tiёsto. “I’m really excited about the US shows…I’m sure that they’ll rock!”

Tiёsto has set forth to bring the US the most extraordinary live experience. The first of four events will be held at the LA Sports Arena, in Los Angeles, on August 20 and tickets go on sale June 14. For more information check www.tiestoinconcert.com.

Hmm... sooo... what about the ummm.... music?

Yes, I know this will probably turn into yet another Tiësto-bashing thread. I respect the man and what he has done for music. But there's a point in time when you've become too detached from the musical experience. That point is when you're advertisers go more into the LED lighting at your show than they do the music.

Thoughts?

I personally feel as long as the effects compliment the music and don't take things away too much from it then thats great. I would even go so far as to say that it can add to the experience in itself. Personally I feel this music needs other type of element, as lighting and atmosphere helps the experience at clubs. It would be the same, in my understanding, at a concert venue/stadium. I mean to go to an event like this and only expect a DJ to spin and nothing else is ,in my opinion, a waste of money, especially with the cost of these events. It is cool that Tiesto with his other In Concert events has added other things, musicians, VJs, choirs, dancers etc, it definitely makes it worth the money, if only I could get to D.C. and see the Concert...

I went 2 the second concert in Arnhem last year and it must b said that it was a fantastic experience. Tiesto when on form is still a massive draw and the level of production of the show was something to behold. Tbh Tiesto only seems 2 save his best performances for these shows and not the day 2 day sets in clubs.

I can understand the bashing he gets. I myself believe he has been rank poor since the concert. Seen him once since and have heard numerous sets and it has been generic and sometimes boring stuf.

However 2 simply dimiss him isnt fair as like i say when on form he is still a truely great DJ and showman.

Yeah I used to be a Tiesto basher for a while, then I got more into Armin. But in the past year, I haven't been as into Armin as much as I was. I have been listened to some old Tiesto mixed CDs and his new one ISOS 4 and I am quite pleased. His productions, in my opinion, are sometimes really good, other times poor, but the same can be said about Armin and Ferry and many other DJs/Producers. Definitely Tiesto's strength has always been and is still...connecting with crowds. It seems like he doesn't care about mixing perfectly because he just wants to play music he loves, and I don't think that many people (non-DJs) would really care if his mixing wasn't perfect. He just wants to put on a good show and share his passion, which is fine with me.

8 hours usually, was 9 at TIC2pt2 though cos the clocks went back, finished on an hour of classics

not sure i trust godskitchen to put on as good a show as ID&T did though. the first one especially was fanstastic; second one was a bit cack as far as the 'magic' theme went, although the lighting setup was still awesome.

and i think lighting/setup plays a big part alongside the music and can make a world of difference if executed well. remember seeing carl cox at dancevalley last year (he had the closing set on the mainstage).. musically i wasn't that impressed, but the lighting was absolutely MINDBLOWING (complete with fireworks!)... and i really enjoyed it as a result.

First show in LA will be only 4 hours. I'm not sure about the rest but it looks like they all be about 4 hours except the final TIC for NYE.

yeah all of them will be 4 hours, I think I heard the one here will be from 9pm till 1am.
Ill probably go. I dont care about all the extra stuff around Tiesto, it kinda helps the atmosphere if it combines well with the music.I mean once Im in a concert I really am not that picky as long as the band/ DJ is playing great music. When Im at a live event I could care less about little cheesy performances or little mistakes,Ill be to buzy havin fun
