Be Cool! I'm sick and tired of...

reading posts that include the words, "as of late." That is not the correct fucking way of utilizing the phrase.
It seems like I'm the only one here who writes "of late," excepting the utterly unnecessary "as." Learn your fucking English people!

'Like' is a pretty weak word, perhaps one might replace is with the more visually appealing words 'as though'. 'Seems' and 'like' are very similar words, is what I'm trying to convey here.

Good luck with the language.

Either words are apt, however. "as of late" is complete nonsense.

Can you elucidate that? Or should I pay no mind to it as it's a kind of inside joke?

It's not really slang. I see many a formal sentence that is ultimately botched up with "as of late." Perhaps many here are unbeknownst to the fact that "of late" simply means recently. Now I ask you, FROM WHENCE DOES THE FUCKING "AS" COME FROM!?!?

i think that 'as of late' comes out of 'as of lately'.

perhaps the writer who is writing this is just shortening what they are saying in their head as they are writing it. they are taking away the 'ly' b/c if you say to yourself as of lately quickly you can easily think that you are saying as of late and leaving off the 'ly'. just a thought, kind of the way so many asian speakers forget the third person singular when they say he says but rather they say he say. beside having a first language influence, this common mistake is also just let go; people understand what they are trying to convey.

i think it is a really minor mistake. i mean it isnt like mistaking their, there and they're. now that pisses me off....

That's entirely redundant though, as you might discern yourself. Why not just say or write 'lately?'
