Actually all dj-headphones sucks at quality when compared to the price, but that's how the "line products" are, none of them will last forever. Read the more advice giving statements, list all cons and pros to your mind or on paper. You have to give in something, but is it: price, sound, how they feel or something else, it's up to you to choose.
Go to some local shop and test those sonys (compare them to others), if they're good enough, buy the japanese versions on ebay. For "10$" they're propably best you can get 
And it isn't hard to change the plug if needed, still unsure about that.
