they are excellent cart's... i would rank them right up there with the orto's. Sound quality is top notch and they track well with very little weight. Not for scratching though...

Yeah these carts are really nice. They can take some abuse (like from taking them off and on tonearms) and I feel they can last a long time. They are a little difficult to put on my Numarks, however once I get Technics, they should be easier (bigger, more sturdy tonearm construction). Overall the next best thing to Ortofons, always seem to have good luck with Shure.

thanks for all the replies!

well... i guess i'm gonna get them soon!

IMHO ortofons are not so good, i had the pros (silver), the djs (blue) and the scratch (pink) and i didn't like the tracking except the scratch were good but the sound quality was shitty on all of them, compared to my current cartridge -> shure m44-7. the m44-7 is brighter and louder than all the ortofons i had.

Well I used to use these carts... had them for over a year. Overall they were great. But if you do a search you'll see that a lot of people have complained of balance issues with these carts. I remember a lot of people saying that either the left or right channel was louder than the other with whitelabels. I know that was a problem for me on both carts and even after replacing the stylus. The problem really became apparent when listening to recordings. I recently switched to Ortofon Elektros and couldn't be happier. My balance issues are resolved.

I've had the same problem with many carts, however I didn't have the problem until about 9 months of owning the Whitelabels. I replaced the styluses and I have seen a big difference in sound quality. This seems to be a problem with a lot of carts, but I think it might just be (in some) worn styluses...

Is there a cart that is good for both trance AND scratching? Does anybody know what kind of cart comes with the Numark Battle Pack? What kind of things can the numark battle pack be good for? Im a straight n00b.

Whitelabels aren't good for scratching. You'll bend the stylus' cantilever. For scratching/mixing m44g is your best bet.

Okay I will admit, I have not used them, but I previously used Numark's supossed "higher end" cartridge called CS-1 and they were of really poor quality. When I compare the quality with those "higher end" ones with some truly higher end carts like Whitelabels, there is a HUGE difference in sound quality and in skipping. Since these "higher end" ones like the CS-1 are of such poor quality, then I'de hate to see what kind of quality the "lower end" carts from Numark are like. My best advice is to stay away from Numark carts....go with Shure or Ortofon.
