Hey. What you are experiencing is latency problems rather than clipping . I've never used the KX drivers like I said so I havent had any expirience with them and Sonar but I do know that my SB Live! card works perfectly fine at a good latenmcy of 11ms in Sonar 4 with the creative drivers.
-Something else to watch for is the fragmentation of your drive. If you have several partitions, and Sonar happens to be on a different one than Cubase, I would definately defrag because more than likely, that is your problem . Just to be safe though, go ahead and defrag because that will always cause latency errors when your harddrive is heavily fragmented. Your drive is forced to constantly search the platters for stuff it needs, adding a lot of milliseconds, sometimes up to 50ms between fragments on the heaviest fragmented drives.
-Your page file may also be fucking with your latency. Pagefile works like ram but instead of using the modules, it puts it on your hard drive using space called virtual memory. Again, fragmentation can mess up the latency. Unfortunately, to defrag your page file, youll need a 3rd party app such as Diskeeper.
-Some people, such as myself, choose to get a lot of highspeed, high capacity ram modules and jsut turn of pagefiling which dramaticly enhances performance (just dont run out of ram or bad things may happen ).
-A low amount of ram can also cause latency issues as well as shitty cheap modules (not so likely if they are less than a year or 2 old).
Just some things to check on before dumping on your card cause I havent had any troubles.
Cheers,
Zac
