2005.07.17. Promise Cherry Beach Sunday Afternoon Soundsystem

this sunday July 17th
2ish to 11pm
promise cherry beach sunday afternoon soundsystem

Sunday’s event will steer slightly to the chill side of music and feature some live elements that work really well with the djing. There is also a special treat - we will be joined by Tomi from Finland who will be spinning a house set inspired by his home town of Helsinki. Big thanks to Marinko for arranging this.

Next weekend we will be away on Justin’s alienInFlux Boreal canoe trip up into the northern woods. There will still be a Sunday at Cherry Beach - Ian Guthrie of Fukhouse and dj Lee Osborne have generously offered to bring the soundsystem down and host the day.

Bring a frisbee, bring a kite, bring a handy sweater, bring a dog (only nice dogs), bring your lover and a hammock. And pass the time on this lazy sunny sunday afternoon with friends and friends of friends.

performances by:
Owen – chill psydub
Phil and Carrie – deep house
KatiKata and Ben Legge – funk, house and live bass guitar
Marinko – nonstop electropop
Tomi from Finland – Helsinki house
Rollin Cash – chill break beat

directions:
Take Lakeshore Blvd East of Toronto just past Parliament. Then turn south down Cherry Street all the way to the parking lot at the end and go east into the parking lot at your left. At the furthest east of the parking lot, walk along the bike path, then turn left up into the trail into the woods… you'll hear music. If you end up at the lake, you are going the wrong way.

Biking to Cherry Beach is easy along the trails beside the lakeshore, and there seems to be a new bus service that goes all the way down to the beach, finally.

things to think about:
Please don't bring more than you plan to take back out with you - leave no trace.
Bring something warm (it gets cool after dark by the lake) and something to sit on and also something to keep sun off your head.
Drink lots of water. Bring something to share.

If weather turns foul the day of, call 416 323 0361 for the contingency plan.
