Tone Depth at the Docks

Seems to be a lot of talk about how bad Tiesto was at the Docks, or how bad teh sound system was. But what many of you missed was the AWESOME sets (before and after Tiesto) that Tone Depth played! The real talent was with the man with the dreads, Tone Depth. Technically perfect mixes, and 90% his own original tracks! Comparitively, Tiesto's performance was proof that just showing up on the strength of your name is not enough. Comments? Thoughts?

I thought Tiesto played a great set... the sound system was horrific. Too much bass, not enough mids and highs, and not nearly played at high enough volume.

I didnt find tone depth's very enjoyable. Typical opening set (nothing against him, but he's not the headliner, im sure he wasnt goign all out either). I didnt hear much of the close, i was out on the patio.

Honestly that performance by Tone Depth was the worst closing I have ever seen in my life. But hey, that's just me. I've only been to like 200 raves in my life. So that tells you something about what I think of Tone Depth.

I appreciate your response, but am interested in knowing why you thought Tonedepth's closing was so bad. Was it the track selection? The mixing? I wasn't under the influence of anything, unlike most, so my opinion is unbiased and clear headed. There seemed to be quite alot of people who were enjoying his set.

How about Tonedepth as a producer? Do you like his music?

I was sober as well, except for about 3 beers and some Red Bull. I didn't much care for Tone's opening set. He was okay, but it was an opening set. Tiesto's set was good, I have heard better sets, but he definitely did not suck. And he was only using one turntable (rarely used) and 2 cdj's. And I would like to see someone come up with a tracklist of what medium was used for each song, especially for those who claim they can tell the difference. You should have heard the guy that opened for Tiesto in Charlotte back in December, a local guy by the name of Scott Modie that rarely plays out (quality, not quantity he says). That guy tore shit up. I am sure you can find his mixes on www.spins.us or www.djcentral.com I left before the closing set.
