"top" djs are just popular ones with excellent contacts/releases.

there are plenty of people with as much, if not more, talent than them in the world. and some of them even choose to remain that way.

EDM just isn't as big over here at it is in Europe. Turn on a popular music station in the US and you're gonna hear hip hop or Britney Spears etc...hence why almost all the big rappers and pop stars are from the US.

Morillo, sanchez, morales, sneak, todd terry, MAW (kenny dope/louie vega), danny tenaglia.....I could go on for ages, but you get the point... they are all from the US and at the top of their game. There are probably more well known ones over here sure, but thats simply because there is a bigger scene, therefore more work.

As for how many years- most of the 'top djs' have many years of slaving away for sod all until they got their big breaks/chances. They didnt just get there overnight. I have flyers from sasha ,morales, oakenfold, carl cox and several others going back to 1991 if that puts it in perspective.

They have all paid their dues in some way.....

there is a allot of american djs as freak said its just that the scene in the states is more bling bling as aposed to electronica. In europe the scene is more electronica based hence people are more well known. And since the people from their grow up in the scene they are promoting themselves right into it instead of haveing to jump the pond to get to it.
