This is your first track??

Holy cow, this is worlds beyond my first track. Excellent job, man! Really digging this song!! I'm totally impressed.

Critiques:

Percussion could be better/fuller. It has the basic typical beat but needs some additional layers, or some FX, or both. And I'd say some EQing/mastering, but I'm listening on crappy headphones at work right now so I can't really comment much on that.

Adding some big, layered, harmonized pads/strings in a few of those spots would work wonders on the track IMO. Such as at around 2:20 when that additional melody starts coming in.

Excellent track man, I'm sure I'll listen to this one for a while! I really like the excited feel of it and it's fast paced but doesn't get too crazy. Excellent first effort, no doubt.

hey man I appreciate your comments on how to make improvments. I'd love to hear more comments on what you think might be needed. I know for sure I need some effects and eqing.

I didnt think to add powerful pads or something so i'll experiment with that for sure.

I'm glad you like it. I'm using cubase sx2 and various VSTs. but this track was made with only the Vanguard and the percussion is all wav samples.

i will also be working more with the percussion. but can you give me some examples of how, cause I cant think of what might be needed. except for a few new sounds....

anyway thanks again, I look forward to hearing from you.

You know, upon a second listen, I don't think the percussion really needs more elements so much as maybe just being more powerful. Make that kick and snare stand out a little more, since it's such a driving song. It seems to get lost a bit when the melodies start coming in. But like I said, I'm listening on crappy headphones so it could be that too.

The snare rolls and such were used very well, tastefully... I like that.

I have additional ideas for percussion and pads too but I can't do much in the way of examples until I'm not here at work, lol.

Still a great track!!

Actually I'd love to give remixing this track a shot, for fun... I use FL Studio though so I'd have to do it by ear I think. Might be fun to play with, if you don't mind.
