Help with wireless network card

So I got a wireless network card, but unfortunately it's not working properly.

I can connect to the network, but it won't let me send or receive data. Very weird.

The card is Acer IPN2220 Wireless LAN card if that is of any help.

Sounds as though the network may be protected by a WEP / WPA key and/or has mac address filtering. In both cases, the card will appear as though it is connected, but will not actually transfer data.

That's interesting because I am connected to the network via a regular LAN cable. It's not just this network that I have the problem with. It's same with my school wireless network that is configured for open port access.
