Inspired by Noble EU

Reading his thread: http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=284671

about the big government drama surrounding the Post Office in Japan.

I was wondering if people could share a major internal and external governmental issue in their nation to get an idea of what sorts of issues people are wrestling with or have been wrestling with recently.

Canada right now i'd say

internal: The new Governor General... and of course its linked to our favourite internal topic the seperation of Quebec.

external: softwood lumber with the US... I never really followed this one, but I think its been going on for a very long time. Gotta milk these things for all they are worth.

Good thread idea.

One of the big ones for me is the (hushed) announcement of a new rapid-reaction commando force for Canada; the army is getting a lot of money thrown at it recently, for the first time in 20 years. Of course, the Liberals totally destroyed it, so it now needs to be retrained damn near from scratch, but thank gawds that something is finally going to be done.

Another one is sovereignty over the Canadian arctic and the Northwest passage, particular within the context of the massive deposit of diamonds found in the Northwest Territories.

Is that the Dart team or someone else? I can sorta recall that they get mentioned every once in a while when they have to buy land for their training base and the neighbours were upset or something?
