How to deal with 'skips' on vinyl?? Please help...
Today I got a record that I was looking forward to getting for a VERY long time, and to my great sorrow (I got it from GEMM, and it was back-ordered, probably used?), the record has a small SKIP.
Now, the player I'm using is not Technics or anything professional, I'm just using a normal (you could say old) record player that came with my stereo-system, no pitch control or anything at all like that. Of course, the needle is pretty crappy -- can I hope that, when I get professional TT's, this problem may be fixed? Does this have anything to do with the problem?
If not, is there any hope for me to fix this problem? Do you know of any tips or tricks to get rid of skips like that? Do you have any experience with that?
Thanks - your advice is very much appreciated, I'm just beginning to DJ and would like to know if there's anything I can do, this record means a lot to me...
