It could just be the cartridge/stylus.

If its just a small skip, chances are that its just an equipment thing, but I'm also no expert.

First, it might be due to your cartridges, and you can remedy this by increasing the height of the tone arm, or by adding more weights on the cartridge.
Or if the cartridge is old, you might need to replace it.

If after replacing the cartridge and it still skips, it might be due to vinyl defect.

There is a remedy to it, if the skips is light, meaning it only skips at a certain particlular point and not bumping througout for a few seconds straight.

I've remedied this before and it was successful, so try at your own risk.
You can do this by gently(do not add too much pressure) placing your finger on top of the cartridge and run the vinyl back and forth a few times where the skip is.
Most of the time, it helps getting the needle back on track.
Be careful only to not add too much pressure on the needle.
If you add too much pressure, you'll end up wearing the vinyl and a sudden drop of quality of sound is noticeable.

I've played it some more and noticed that SOMETIMES, it does NOT skip in that place. So the skip is not permanent, but it happens in that place occasionally.

That gives me some more hope that it can be fixed.

Dude, don't use that turntable to listen to your vinyls...that cartridge is most likely destroying it.

Get some tech's and then you will not hear a skip.

Don't worry! 99% it's because of the old TT.
I have the same problem with my jvc but the same record plays good at my mk2. I'll buy a second tech for xmas
