Does any of you have an opinion about Flash?

Personally, I dislike it unless it's kept to a minimum, such as in Mi3dot.org. Often Flash sites suffer from the "MS Power Point syndrome", where the focus goes to the images rather than the content itself, not to mention that it's often heavier to load than clever HTML use.

i hate it. with a passion.

only reason being, if i knew how to make cool shit in Flash i'd get paid more money. but i'm too lazy to really care.

as far as Flash on the web, i like it ONLY if it's well designed, kept to a minimum, and not annoying. there are way toooooo many crappy Flash sites out there.

one site i can think of that uses Flash well is www.beatport.com

Love flash. There is just so much control in it.

newbie flash interfaces with basic graphic design principles suck ass, and that's probably why you dislike it.

advanced flash actionscript is pure mathematical genius. combine it with creative design and you have a winner.

When it comes to flash Yugo Nakamura is a master. those who have been around since flash 4 may remember MONO*crafts v1.

Flash very often just makes pages ugly as fcuk instead of cool/nice/functional.

Flash is nice to use, but can easily be overused as others have said.

Too many designers use it to try and impress others while designing a clean and easy to navigate website is a challenge they could never live up to.


Very few people make effective use of it and now that we're all past the wow factor it has thankfully started being used less abusively!

i hate it as an interface for a site...

but those flash games/cartoons are ok

i like it in sites i wont likely use more than say once a month, just because i prefer typing the specific url to where on the site i'd like to go.

if it's just an artist page, or a game page i like it
