Right some little problems with fruity that have been annoying me today.
- In the playlist editor, how do you cut your patterns and just play half? Eg the pattern is 16 bars in length but i just wanna loop the first 8 for four segments in the playlist editor?
Probably really simply but its doing my head in
- I've got my virus hooked up and working now, except I can play sounds but cant record sounds into fl, I have to select the virus output (as hw in 1/2 in my 'maudio volume control') to hear sounds coming from it. The midi signal going to and from is fine.
Any help appreciated. Cheers!
P.S - Roll on Godskitchen Global Gathering tommorow OH YES!
Sorry, cant help you on either question. I have never been able to cut a pattern, why dont you just insert another parttern and put the second half of it on that? Then when you want to play both, you put one after the other, but when you want one, you just put the first one...
Long answer: Just place out two patterns beside each other, and drag the last over the first. If that make sense. This is not a good idea however. It would be better to just make a new pattern.
If I understand what you're asking for the first question, just overlap the pattern x consequtively so you get the desired loop for x amount of time. Although eventually the 'end' of the original loop will play once the overlapping runs out. I don't think you can cut out that bit.
A question on my behalf: how do you copy a certain amount of boxes in the playlist window (not all, ie. ctrl a)? I mean at the moment I'm highlighting some, but then have to drag it all the way to what, 400 odd... which is quite cumbersome... any quicker way?

using shift. Mark the beginning or end of what you want to copy, press shift and click att the other end of what you want to copy.
That should do the trick, it's a common GUI-standard in windows- programs anyways. You can highligt a certain amount off text that way for example. I don't have FL where I sit right now, so I can't varify it.
EDIT: apperently not... Just checked it. Well, you can't get it right all of the time

if I understood the question right, that should be easy. just use the selection tool and mark the begining of the boxes in the time line (the top row with the numbers ) with the left mouse button, then go to the end of the boxes and click on the last box with the right mouse button.

Another way to select a lot: use the zoom button in the top right corner. That will work in most cases.
I think we can all agree that FL Studio has some shortcomings. But then... doesnt every product we use? It can get the job done, just sometimes not the way you want it to.
you need to record the outputs of your virus into an open FL channel. I'm not 100% sure if that's possible, but it's still what needs to be done. As long as midi flows to and from FL and the synth, then all you need to do then is record the audio output of the synth.

Thanks for your replies guys.
I'm not sure exactly what you said here.. but trying to understand it allowed me to figure my own question out.
What I did: Highlighted a portion of the row with numbers (ie. one bar) then moved the scrollbar to the end and clicked the right button on the mouse to where I wanted to select to.
