So i picked up a 20Gig iPod last night but i'm having problems connecting it to my laptop. Everytime i connect it, it says do not disconnect but it won;t connect it, the message just stays on the iPod and it won't do anything. When i try to update the software it tells me that the iPod cannot mount. Someone please help me, i'm ready to return it

Welcome to the wonderful world of gear designed for the MAC and adapted for windows.
I got the same problem. I switched to 3rd party software and it works like a dream. Research Ephpod or Anapod!
Let me guess the Pod shows up as a drive in windows Explorer too.
If all else fails uninstall itunes and The ipod program and start over with reboot prior to reinstalling the software and do not have the pod plugged in until after!

Are you using Windows or Mac? Did you buy the right iPod version? They come pre-formatted for Windows or Mac... They're not all the same.
I bought a Mac version off of eBay a few years back and converted it to work with Windows, thanks to a handy little utility... I forget the name of it now though.

Hhmmm strange...I remember when I was doing mine it took a while the first time cause it copies everything from iTunes to the iPod...and all the conncection stuff...I guess I have to physically see it to figure it out but if it doesn't work then do what the guys mentioned above I personally love iTunes
