Question Can't decide on a mixer under $450

Sorry to create another topic on mixer's but none seem to mention what I'm after, and I think everyone looking for decent mixer's could use a thread like this.

I've been looking to get my first mixer and have decided that I need atleast a 3 channel. Everything out there with 3 channels or more is quite higher then $500cdn, so almost all of my choices have come down to Stanton models.

Stanton RM404

Stanton M304

Stanton SMX501

Vestax VMC180

I've been looking at other brands, but I'm not a fan of Numark. Pioneer, Denon, and Allen & Heath's are too expensive. I may be wrong and overlooked something so please let me know and if you have or have used the ones above please give your opinion.

Thanks!

Read This! wait and get what you really want

I'm on my fith DJ mixer now being 30 years old.

The first ones I got I did because I was on a budget.

But I regret getting them. I strongly suggest that you wait a little longer and get what you really want.

The Pioneer DJM500 for example (I don't use this one) but would be something you could wait a bit to get and if you decided easily resell.

Resale value on a stanton unless of coarse if you have the Limited VRM-10 is not very good.

Chances are that you will not have the same DJ mixer your whole life.

i have just got the smx501. damn nice mixer. Has a Penny&Giles crossfader which for a mixer in its price range is pretty good (I paid £230ukp).

I tried a Vestax pcv275 and the crossfader was very stiff. The Penny&Giles crossfader on the smx501 glides like butter on a hot knife

I was recommended the stanton by a dj friend who has used the djm500 and the Vestax pcv275 for a while now. He also has the smx501. Owned it for around a year and has abused the hell out of it and still yet to notice anything wrong with it. The only thing I would like to have seen on this mixer is a crossfader reverse (the channel volume faders have it )

i have the stanton smx 401. i'm very happy with it. no complains so far, the faders glide very nicely and everything seems to be spaced out great.

i only paid $400 canadian on it, and it's worth its money.

yes, you won't own your mixer all your life, but if you're not a pro yet and still in your learning stage stanton is worth the money. if i upgrade i will go for something by denon, pioneer or allen & heath. but i'm a long way away from upgrading my mixer.

Ya, I definitely need a 3 channel.

I really want either a Pioneer, Denon, or Allen & Heath, but they get up to about $1000 with all the additional costs (taxes, shipping, customs). I think since I'm a beginner I'm better off getting something that is good for now, even though it might now be worth the same money in the future, atleast I can leanr with something good.

I can't seem to find useful reviews for the Stanton's above, that's why I was asking here, and I guess not to many people use them here since they are beginner/decent mixers.

Ecler Nuo 3?

Might be just too expensive but worth looking into.

Ya I was actually just looking at the Ecler's because someone was selling a Nuo5, but they are too pricey just like the rest of the crew. Even the Nuo3.

pcv275 would be my suggestion simply because you could get a rotary conversion kit for it =)
