An idea that came to me...I would appreciate as much feedback as possible! =)

Well guys, as some of you know, I barely produce. I have been doing this since late 2003 but on and off. Anyway, I was thinking this morning and this idea came to my head so I made something with it just now. I would appreciate any pointers, and some ideas to it. I am trying to lose my newbie sound which seems to been stuck for a long time and doesn't want to let me go, hehe. Disregard the overcompressed sound, hehe, I was just fooling around to give it a pumping sound.

Clicky here! =)

Good kick and nice drive. The beginning was promising, but then it all sounded a bit outdated, try to use other more original sounds than that same old saw. Ok that bell-like sound is different, but it sounds not that good imo. The melodies are nice, but not that interesting. I don't know your earlier tracks, but the overall sound is nice, just try to focus on better sounds and melodies.

Sounds quite alright, though as Romi said, nothing really that interesting or reminiscent about the melodies.

Choirish things in the back are nice though, I like those things. I quite like the pattern of the first melody as well, made me remind of an old Bonzai classic

Well, to me it sounds more than alright since I have never made anything that sounds like this, hehe, you know what I mean? I'll be satisfied when I lose the n00b sound. You guys' standards are high since you are already past my stage and expect stuff to sound lke pro music, hehe. I am still in the larva stage of producing.

Ok, even more feedback . Well, it's certainly not the real n00b sound imo, but it could be improved. What programs and vst's do you use for your tracks btw?

I used Cubase SX 2. For the intro lead that keeps playing throughout the song and the "scruffy" one in the second part are from Reaktor and I programmed the leads from scratch. The bass is from Vanguard, the bell and phased saw are from z3ta+, and the bassline is from Korg Polysix. I threw this together quick, so I know I can make it sound good. Well, I am happy to know I am loosing the n00b sound a bit, hehe.

Cubase and the vst's are very good choices. I also use most of them. Well, most of all, try to work on better and more up to date melodies. Good luck with it, i can hear there's some talent in you .

What do you mean by up to date? I really don't understand how melodies can sound dated, hehe. =p

I use FL Studio and the more common vst plugins, though I think it very much depends on what you can work with best. You'll eventually get better and more creative with what you've got. Cubase SX will work just fine!

It definately doesn't sound noobish - the new term for 'amateuristic'? - it sounds clear and well produced so far. Perhaps not the best, but I guess that's not very necessary now. For me, it sounds even better than most Menno De Jong tracks for example

Bye,
Wim

Hehe thanks for the encouragement...that really helps. I do not know about that Menno guy, hehe, I would have to do a search. Can somebody explain me what did Romi meant by outdated sound? How can a sound sound outdated? I mean, you cannot say a harp sounds so 1400 B.C., hehe.
