presents = the artist introduce a new alias that he will release tracks under.

vs. = 2 artists work together, but don't form a new alias for the project.

& is usually used by artists that do many projects together or have like a group...for example...nalin & kane...gabriel & dresden...they usually work together in that team...

vs is usually used more by artists that don't work on projects together, but have joined up for a tune. they aren't picking a new alias because they are counting on the success of their well known project names to provide record sales. example....M.I.K.E. vs John 00 Fleming....Armin vs Airwave...etc

This topic has come up many times before.

But sometimes (not common) "presents" can be used to promote a new comer, for example with Markus Schulz presents Elevation.
Elevation is NOT Markus Schulz, Markus is just "promoting" him.

Please correct me if I am wrong

Although I've seen that mix is often used when an artist remixes his own track.

Remix is when an artist remixes someone else.

Actually he is right. Elevation only consists of Michael Targanaski and Markus Schulz is presenting him in the tracks that have "Markus Schulz pres. Elevation" as the artist. It's really a way for Markus Schulz to capitalize on a new talents sound while giving him some touch ups for a release as well as giving the new talent a huge name to help attract more people.

Another example is Markus Schulz feat. Depature. Departure is hardly an alias for Markus. They are their own group but they aren't that well know in EDM and so Markus probably likes their sound and helped them with a bit of cleaning up with the production and also his name to get their name out there. It really signifies a colaboration of artists but the emphasis is usually on the artist who features the other artist. Like Armin feat. Gabriel and Dresden - Zocalo. Armin is the "main" artist but Gabriel and Dresden added their talent (but i think G&D did most of the work on that track. ).

Anyway it is not just a way for the artist to introduce another alias that they will release under. In fact these cases a pretty scarce and the "featuring" thing is meaningless anyways. I can't even think of a case of this offhand though.

edit: im using featuring and presenting as having the same meaning but they could have slightly separate meanings. i dunno, i don't think there really is a set-in-stone way these producers and labels use these terms anyway.

That's the first time I ever see an artist use "presents" this way.
