I've hooked up a mixer to my laptop. I'm finding that there is not enough power going into my cheap Numark DM1050 mixers. I have to turn the master volume right up to about 80%+, just to get the volume metre LEDs to light up (not that they're much good anyway).
Does anyone know if i can buy a little cheap amp, that can amplify the signal BEFORE it reaches my mixer???? Or should i just make one myself, that's powered using AA batteries?

checked that the volume settings in windows/soundcard control panel/program are set to max? Ive been caught out like that before.
Yeah everything is right up...
just to clarify, everything coming out of the output is loud enough, becasue i've hooked it all up to a 21WRMS sound system. It's just that there needs to be about twice as much signal going to the mixer itself. That's not a huge amount, so I COULD make my own amp, just a matter of time, money, and resources. None of which i have right now....

a mixer is just a pre-amp, it doesnt really do anything volume wise except control the output. before it gets to the mixer its just a raw signal.

thanks,
i guess i just have to make a pre-pre-amp...
my soudn system lets the sound be loud enough to practice with ( though i'd have to rent something for parties), but i just need more power into the mixer itself....
