September 2005 Mix - DJ Metatron - Death [progressive]

September Mix

Cue file: http://www.dj-metatron.com/sets/DJ Metatron - Death.cue

Well my new mix is done. My mixes are always very affected by what I've been listening to and what I've been loving at the time. Lately I've been listening to tons of house and electro and such. Much less trance. I am in love with Sasha's new album, tons of Digweed's live sets, Lawler's essential mix and boatloads of other more housey stuff. But actually it turned out to be a bit less housey than I expected. I guess I just have a hard time straying from the more melodic stuff. Anyway I'll just say that I put a lot of emotion into this one. I wanted to stretch my boundaries and try and completely acheive my vision. Ok, sounds a bit hoakey, but it's what I do. Whatever. God I hate these discription blurbs. Maybe I won't do them anymore. Fuck.

1. Ghost Cauldron - Ambient Skit
2. DJ Hell ft. Billy Ray Martin - Je Regrette (Superpitcher Remix)
3. Jesper Dahlback - Forsberg Loves the Acid
4. Steve Angello - Lipstick (Extended Mix)
5. Alex Stealthy - Deploring
6. The MFA - Overhang
7. Kosmas Epsilon - Hollow Rue (BCML Remix)
8. Freeform Five - Electromagnetic (Tiefschwarz Dub)
9. Hugg and Pepp - Snabeln
10. DJ Phunky - Phunky Mix
11. David West ft. Andreas Hermansson - Larry Mountains 54 (Inkfish Remix)
12. Royksopp - Only This Moment (Alan Braxe and Fred Falke Remix)

This one is more in the vein of Embalm my March mix, if you've heard it. A bit chill for the most part but picks up a lot of energy towards the end. Sorry I sorta skipped August but I will be posting my mix from the Non-Live DJ Mix Competition when that is over so I hope that makes up for it. Anyway, hope you guys enjoy this one, feedback is GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Thanks,
Jason AKA DJ Metatron

Always look forward to your sets, Metatron!

I'll let you know what I think after I've had a listen...

Heh, thanks for downloading. I was just being a bit cheeky there. I do really hate trying to describe my mixes tho. I like to share what influenced me and what I was trying to do with it. But when it comes to labeling it and describing the genre or whatever I get pretty frustrated. Actually I think it's maybe the monotany of the blurbs that get's to me. Anyway, would love to hear what you think. I experimented quite a bit with this one and am really looking for criticisms. I need to be taken down a few pegs. Come on have a go! lol

Awesome, I look forward to your comments. I hope your not dissapointed by it's more housey, electro and almost acidic influences. If your are no biggie but don't be afraid to say so.

a couple of awesome tracks in there.. unfortunately, as a whole the set didn't do it for me. it just doesn't seem to go anywhere, it sounded like a random mash of tunes..

sorry if this sounds harsh, but your set just didn't grab me.. some sets really take you on a journey, get you hooked from the beginning till the end. this one didn't, because there is no flow.. you always seemed to bring in tracks i didn't expect at all, which unsettled me each time.

maybe this is just me, i don't know.. but the set would be a lot better if you rearrange the tracklist, i think. as i said, every track in there is very good, but as a whole it just doesn't work.

hey thanks. no, that's not being harsh, i see what you mean. the tracks are kinda whacky. i mean i've got a sortof acid tune then a full on house tune then a full on prog trance tune then a tune from mfa (lol). i guess they just don't flow as much as i thought. i personally found the tunes to match up nicely. i think i was focused too much on the melody progression and not the beat structure progression. i tend to do that and i will work on that.

Thanks a ton for you input, i really appreciate it.

Very solid mixing and harmonic progression, though a couple of the tracks seemed to come completely out of nowhere and didn't really seem to fit in (that intro!?@#). As a whole it wasn't as grabbing as some of your past mixes, but I still dug it for the most part. It made good cleaning music for moving day
Cheers, keep up the good work, etc

hey thanks for listening. lol, i really love the intro song personally ( it's maybe a bit too long though). but it may rub some the wrong way. when are you gonna make a new mix ey retrobyte?

hey thanks. i did try to have a 'story' to the set. but i am getting some good feedback and i think i know where i went wrong. anyway hind-sight is 20/20 and i still think this is a great set. i really make sets as if i was to enjoy it myself. i do listen to my sets every once in a while but unless im drunk or high or something i have a hard time enjoying them because i am always focusing on the flaws. lol. anyway what i mean is if i had a twin and he had the exact same taste in music i think he would enjoy it.

hey, thanks for listening. sorry to dissapoint. i know i always say that i do this for myself really and i don't listen to what people say and don't let it affect me or influence me, but it's pretty hard not to. anyway i will always stick to what i feel i want to do but it's always a lot nicer if other people like it.

cheers to everyone for your input. means a lot.
