I applied for a different job at my company back in June. HR waited on my application for like three months because they decided I wasn't qualified. So I went directly to the hiring managers and they helped me to set up and interview and one week after I interviewed they offered me the nightshift position.
I am so psyched. I will be supervising one of the best teams in the plant and I am really compatible (in a busniess sense) with my new manager. And the other supervisors are happy to have me on their team. I still need to break the news to my director and my current manager but they have been expecting this a long time... I can't tell too many people at work yet until I see them so I had to get this off my chest. yay!

I am currently a Process Engineer, which means that I provide technical support for manufacturing current commercial products and launching new commercial products.
My new job is less technical. I will be a supervisor, overseeing the people who work on the manufacturing floor.
So now when I tell people I make drugs, it's a little bit closer to the truth because before I just supported people who make drugs. Now I will lead people who make drugs.

it's funny that you mention that, because in my career plan i am heavily considering going to distribution (logistics) as my next development move.

i dont know... i will probably work a lot harder, since i have a lot to prove. but i dont know if i would even be on the same schedule as you, since i am on the west coast. my shift will be 6 pm to 6 am. but i expect i will post more on my days off, since i have nothing else to do when i cant sleep in the middle of the night. i might even try to convince my bf that i should install IM on his new mac.

your bf can't be liking this very much. you must be very ambitious to take the graveyard shift. i dont care what they paid me i'd never work that time slot. only advantage i can see is you'll have the perfect sleep pattern to attend raves.

of course i talked this over with him extensively before i did it. he supports me completely. i worked grave for the month of august and it wasnt a big problem. i didn't take the pay into consideration at all when thinking about this. there were a lot of other things about this night shift that made it more appealing than the day shift positions that were potentially available. then today i got the offer letter and it is an additional 20% on my base pay. i'm certaintly not complaining about that.
