Exclamation Tranceport 1 and Magik 6 - any better complete albums for a trance newbie?

can you think of any better MIX albums than Oakey's Tranceport and Magik 6 if you were going to try to define modern Trance to someone who's never been into it, and trying to get them to like it/hear the best

(Out there and back would be the best producer CD)

Johan Gielen - Recorded <<< nothing special but i love it
Armin Van Buuren - 002 Basic Instinct <<< Especially Disc 2

Yeh I would say have a listen to The Politics of Dancing by Paul Van Dyk... especially cd 2. Awesome cd!! You should try some of the live sets by the big name djs too... one of my faves is Paul Van Dyk live at the Gatecrasher Summer Sound System 2001.

I gotta agree with you on that PVD's Politics of Dancing CD... great stuff! And even tho I didn't really like the 1st CD when I first heard it, more times I hear the more I love it... it is like a chillout intro into the 2nd CD, which is just amazing!

And for any other albums, try Tiesto's "Summerbreeze"... And "In Search Of Sunrise 1 & 2" are great too!

im just debating here

what is THE definitive trance mix CD?

i say the first tranceport and magik 6

(resident is not far behind, but its a double cd, so that's cheating)

personally, i think Tranceformer 2000 defines Trance very well. the tracklisting may slightly be considered Cheezy nowadays but, majority of the tunes on those 2 cds are classics... CD 1 is mixed by Mauro Picotto and Cd 2 is compiled by Lange.

Trance Nation, by Ferry Corsten (on MoS) I would say is the most definitive old-skool uplifting trance record of all time. He's just created a totally spectacular vibe throughout it, that none of the subsequent TN compilations ever came close to.

I've got Magik 6 & 7, Tranceport and the In Search of Sunrise records, but TN moves me more than any other I've found so far. Haven't got Politics of Dancing yet though
