CJ Bolland - The Prophet as an intro

First of all, I love this track (im talking about the original version). For those of you that don't think you know it, you might have heard it as the last track on Oakenfolds two years at Cream CD, and also Magik Seven.

Just a thought, has anyone ever played this as an opening track of a liveset? How did this go down with the audience?

For my next gig, I am tossing up between this song followed by Afterburn - North Pole, or just getting straight into North Pole.

Any opinions?

I don't like the idea of putting a track that powerful in the start of a set. I'll rather end a set with it. I mean, you have to follow up with a harder track, and unless you're spinning hardstyle, I don't see the point.

I played the speech in the beginning over another track for fun once, worked pretty well. But I really think you'd be better off finding a slightly more original opener than a tune that has been used by a bunch of superstar DJs already.

straight into north pole. going down into that from the prophet would sound awful.. plus you'd have to pitch it up by atleast +8 to match with the prophet!

although you could cut out the opening 'word of god' vocals & remove the bassline (low cut EQ).. then layer that on top of the northpole intro, which might work if you wanted a similar effect. more original that way too

yeah. agree with isoterra, if you want to start off with the Prophet you're going to have to play it at -4.0% or something to mix it in, unless the next track you're playing is hardstyle.

I don't see any wrong in starting a set with it, it's just a pain to mix out of, if you're not prepared.

Think the vocals are from Willem Dafoe as Jesus in the movie 'The Last Temptation of Christ'. Anyone seen the movie?

For what its worth, ive decided to start with North Pole...I know its an oldie thats been thrashed but what the heck. I love it

Only trouble is that everyone recognises the vocals at the start, if you only play them and mix out before the track itself, everyone in the crowd will be pissed.
