XLR (female) to either XLR (male) or 1/4" jack (male) depening on what you are plugging it in to!

yep
You need cable with XLR female to 1/4" jack

Normal practice to not get leads with microphones....

You can probably pick one up at any Guitar/Pro Audio retailer (if you're in the United States, head over to your nearest Guitar Center) for less than $15. Radio Shack is also a pretty good bet. If you're fine with the wait, comparing prices online (with Froogle or eBay) isn't a bad idea.
