Smiley DJ DJ-ing and Monitors????

Sometimes when i DJ on small parties, after an hour or so, i can't hear the vinyl i want to mix in, monitors on or off!!!!! The only time i didn't have this problem, was when i had 2 monitors and i was standing behind the speakers off the party itself!

Anyone who knows what the problem is?????

No, the equipment works fine! I just can't hear the cue, the only thing i am hearing is the track i am playing! And it doesn't start till after playing a while! It could be a problem with my ears!

Or maybe i am deaf from a certain point I have no idea!

I thought it was a problem with the monitors, they were not positioned correctly?, they were to loud????????

I don't know if anyone else had this experience?

Equipment

The equipment was the following: a RODEC MX-180 MK II, with 2 Technics SL-1200 MK II's. And i use a good Sennheiser headphone, don't know the exact model!

The only thing i can think of is you're maybe got the volume on your monitors too low or what could be going on is your ears are adjusting to heavy bass from the speakers and your phones may not represent the lower spectrum as well so in other words after being acustomed to heavier bass the phones sound weak and your ears are missing the beats as they're less powerful...

2 cents worth anyways

BTW Most sennheisers do have less oomph in the lower frequencies so that could very well be it

you should ALWAYS be standing behind the speakers of the party and have seperate monitors there. One is enough for me, but I prefer it on the side that is "open" (doesn't have the headphone on it).
It may very well be that you just went "deaf" after standing in front of the main speakers for an hour.
