A midi controller triggers a soft synth for example in your pc and can tweak fx etc but does not produce any sound in it's own right.
A keyboard generates it's own sound through synthesis which then needs to be captured by your recording set -up ( pc etc.)
Most leyboards these days have a soft synth version as well which can be rewired into Cubase etc for plenty of fun and tinkering.
