Trance music and spirituality..part 1.

10 years ago i was living in Vancouver, I had never been to a Rave, or in fact enjoyed Rave music, i was listening to the Grateful dead which i had just been turned onto, and i was really mystified at the mythology that the GD wove around themselves during the 30 years that they had toured the world, it was around this time that i transited from Grunge music and industrial(ministry,front242,skiny puppy..ect) to the dead, then to Trance.
Before my initiation into the realm of Trance, i had as well been very much into studying the spiritual realms of LSD and Ketamine, reading everything i could on LSD and K, as well as experimenting with both, and it was around this time that i came across DMT, a very powerful entheogen used by the shamans of the lower Amzon basin, as well ive been a student of kundalini yoga philosophy for some time.
One day a friend of mine stops by and asks me to come down to Trance night with him, a night that has been put on by chris schimdt for many many years now,(many thanks to the Organix crew for all there hard work to keep this night alive during all these years) i needed some novelty in my life so i accepted.
Entering the bar i was amazed at all the decor, the hanging sashes with there swirling fractalicous imagery and and neon flora moblies and especially the computer graphic visuals dancing across the walls of the bar. It reminded me of the descriptions of the early acid test decor, when ken kesy and his merry pranksters along with the house band none other then the Grateful Dead would pave the way for us, the techno shaman of the 21st century...to explore the innner realms of hyper space, as we now do.
I was asked to open my mouth where three drops of some deadly west coast LSD was dripped onto my tounge.
The first DJ ws playing some melodic beats working up towards the steady pulse of the Real thing.
At this point i had NEVER danced really, i had been to many a mosh pit, in fact the last time i was in Toronto was on November 11 1993, to see the IN UETRO tour from NIRVANA, and that was amazing. Growing up 10 minutes from the Molson Park Amitheater, i had been to all the Lolapoolza's, and July first concerts.
But still nothing had prepared me for what i was to experince that fated friday night downtown Vancouver.NOTHING!
I sat sipping my beer and soaking in all the imagery and energy, as the acid took ahold of my nervous system, i was soon swept up into a psycedelic world of splendor.
I had brought my handrum with me and i sat on the sidelines of the Dance floor and began Drumming along with the Trance. Being a handrummer of 3 years at this p[oint i was famillar with what being in a Trance was all about. Being on the West Coast i Had been to a few Rainbow Gatherings. and participated in Drum circles, i remeber drumming alogside 20 or more drummers the pulsing dancers and the fire licking the skies changing into forms of ancient spirits, dead long ago ancestors and faries leaping into exsistance by the sound of our drumming. My Trance deepening with every second the world behind my eyes taking on form, flying across hyperlandscapes jewelled galaxies exploding in brillant of colours never before seen, my hand raw and in som cases bleeding from the hours of drumming the sweat pouring down my eyes and the burning sensation of my serpent power rising up through my chakra's lighting up my nervous system with estatic bliss.
My first night of Psy-Trance was identical to these momments, except instead of a Drum, it was my body, i had never been so in touchwith every muscle, every fine thread of nerve ending, my chakra votexes spinning in unison send shots of pure serpent power up my spin as i danced my self into a VERY deep trance state, i remeber at one point i was outside of my body and something old and meschevious had entered my body. This was my Frist experience of what it was to "DANCE YOURSELF Into POSESSION".
I hullucinated my pants off.
Yet never did they ever take a hold with such meaning. Like somehow i had tapped into the sleeping strands of DNA allowing this whole bunch of information through my nervous system, i breathed two breaths through my nostrils, and one out. in this rhythm i danced till the last track, after wards i took me a few minutes till i could even speak!
Something happened to me that night. something happened in that club which changed me forever as a human being. I became in touch with a spiritual dimension( an interesting note on the word DIMENSION an anagram for this particular word is MIND IS ONE, Deadly Eh?) a place that each one of us has the privliage to acsess, the dimension of the shaman, A charcter who's allys himself with the sacred Plant teachers, the fungi, the vine, the toad, the flower, the seed. We as a culture. the Rave culture, the trance family,we have an oppurtunity to learn and to keep sacred this Dimension which we acsess throguh the PULSE of TRANCE, through the marrige of entheogens and Music, to evolve ourselves into the next level of human evolution...HYPER SAPIEN.
To expand for self. and to expand for the cosmic mass of humanity.

thanks for reading my essay.

PART TWO, comming soon.
