The supposed child born of that union, an 18-year-old named Renee, has been living with Janet’s older sister Rebbie, DeBarge charged.
It fuels speculation that has persisted for years about a secret child of Jackson's.
The singer's publicist didn’t return calls for comment.
The budding artist was only 18 herself when she married DeBarge – they were wed for less than three months before the marriage was annulled a year later.
"James and the Jackson family kept everything real close, real tight," Young DeBarge told a New York radio station last week. "They weren't very revealing about what the relationship was about.
"No one really knew how it was working out until things kind of surfaced," the 28-year-old said, adding, "There's no telling what (Janet Jackson) is telling her."
DeBarge, who’s also in the recording business and about to put out his own album, described Renee as a wonderful singer.
Now 39, Jackson has worked hard to keep her love life hidden in the past. She secretly married Rene Elizondo Jr. in 1991, before they separated in 1999.
She’s now seeing Jermaine Dupri.
