Lavelle, Holden @ Avalon 10/22/05 review
Sup all. hope no one beat me to this, its close to 6AM, left the club at 4:30 and must say I was satisfied. Night started off crappy since it was cold, wet, and Avalon wasn't letting anyone in until 11:15 PM. bastardos. TA meetup worked out which was cool, good to put some faces behind member's names. Anyway, lets get to the music; Lavelle was sick i thought, awesome set, esp the 1st hr and last two songs. Holden's first 1 1/2 hr didnt really impress me, some good tracks but nothing to make me really wanna get back on the dance floor. But towards the very end of his set after he stopped then started playing again (that was weird I thought), he played some hard ass tracks. Overall, good set by both guys but I preferred Lavelle on this particular night. Lets not forget, Gourley and Do did a solid job as usual starting smooth then getting into some harder stuff, though I thought the bass was turned up a bit much on a couple of the electro songs. Songs I recognized:
James Zabiela - Robophobia
Moby - God Moving Over the Face of the Water (This was the
2nd to last song in Lavelle's set but anyone know the remix?)
The Killers - Mr. Brightside (Jacques Lu Cont Thin White Duke mix)
A song or two from Sasha's Fundacion CD played by Holden, can't remember and too lazy to check right now)
and others, but now its time for taco bell and simpsons.
Peace
