OK i have been Djing now For about 5 to 6 years think it is the time to try my hand at some Production in Trance music i have allways wanted to make a few tracks for my sets to get my name even more out there... i know it take a long time to relly get n' to....soooo without going on and on. lol WHAT IS THE BEST SOFTWARE TO MAKE BASIC TRANCE TRACKS. WITHOUT THE MUSIC SOUNDING TO CHEESY AND OLD? i have made some stuff on Fruity Loops but it never comes out sounding like trance lol more like deep Techno any help is appreciated

WOW for once can't you people just SEARCH the forums. There's like a BILLION posts JUST like this. "What's the best program to use for trance music?" or "What's the best sequencer I can use to make bangin trance tracks?" or this is the best one..."What sequencer program can make trance music?" Can't you people just look for once and stop being lazy? Wow personally I'm just tired of seeing the same crappy posts ALL the time.

If you cant make tracks on fruity loops you wont be able to make anything better with any other software host.

Geez, quit bugging this guy. He's new and probably doesn't know his way around.

A sample-based production proces is probably best when starting out. You don't need to get into too much complicated synth tweaking and you can concentrate on sequence and structure. After that you could move on to some simple VSTi synths like the Vanguard. If you want to move on to a sound that's more 'your own' than you could try the Z3TA.

All in all I think you VSTi's and VST effects are more important than the sequencer you use. But I must say that Fruity can have a very chaotic layout at times and the happy clappy colours and little pictures of fruit make it look very unproffesional. I don't like it personaly. You should move away from using the built in synths becouse the sound quality and flexibility are teriible on them.

Logic is said to have a very learnable structure to it but I am personaly put off by the lack of VST plugin ability and the fact that later versions only run on Mac.

I use Cubase SX2 myself and am very comfortable with it. It is said that it can be very complicated to start with if you want to be using it's full capacity but once you've got it it makes for a very good workflow.

In most peaces of software it is to be advised you use two monitors. Theirs often a lot going on in a track and you need to get an overview of everything that's happening. Using one monitor often results in having layer upon layer of interfaces.

If your just starting out it's probably best to get some excellent headphones. I know a signed producer who just uses his laptop and some good headphones.

It wouldn't take long for them to learn te synchronise the sound. And there you have it, the words first percussive band.

Music has survived wars, famines, the plague and many other things and has evolved with man across many cultures. Dance music is just the next step in the evolutionary chain. My guess is that it will probably be with us untill we are extinced.

Get yourself a copy of FL Studio or Cubase SL since you're starting, and then go to kvr-vst.com and find some freeware vst synths and effects (there are thousands of them for you to pick from, but you should really check out Triangle 2, Synth 1, Superwave P8 and Drumatic (if you prefer synthesized percussion rather than sample based) ), and you should be able to find some freeware samplers as well.

Also, you might just want to stick with FL Studio and get a good sample CD and start with that, and wait a bit on the synthesizing part until you get a better understanding for sequencers and MIDI.
