DuMonde aka. JamX & De Leon Announcement
Just to let you know, we are separating a bit from the global dance scene and will release less music under our aliases „DuMonde“ or „JamX & De Leon“ and also less music on F8T Recordings and AccessTunes.
The basic reason is the shrinking market and the weak support from the people which has lead to the situation, where we are now more concentrating on other music productions for other people and also more „music on demand productions“ for big industry companies. But still you can expect some selective DuMonde releases and DJ appearances from us during the next months, we just don’t do that much anymore, because of „see above“.
Anyway, trance music will always be our love and we hope it will grow again during the next years. And hopefully the whole music industry will „re-vitalize“ soon and become what it was 5 years ago. But that’s not in our hands but in yours, because it’s you who will decide how to support the music you love.
Best regards

What do you think about this?
But also... illegal downloading is one big reason that some dance producers have very bad times right now... not only DuMonde....

The below updated interview should clear up alot of misconceptions from their last announcement. (posted 08.11.2005)

Thanks to DuMonde - Jürgen Mutschall (JamX) and Dominik De Leon (DeLeon) for taking some time out for this interview.
Ok, as far as I am concerned, I am Dumonde's number one fan. I thought I'd take the time to find out a little more about their take on the industry at the moment, and get a little more insight into where they are heading in the scene. Dumonde are the reason I got into trance and I’m very grateful for the opportunity to have this interview with them!
Jürgen and Dominik, thank you for taking some time out to answer these questions for Trance Tribe.
Q: Firstly, could you tell us a bit about the press release from June this year – as there seems to be some misunderstanding around about your future plans, as producers and as DJ’s?
A: Well, we have to admit, that a lot of people misunderstood our message. The reason must be, that we are Germans and don’t know how to express ourselves in English in the right way. What we wanted to say is, that we are reducing our musical output on F8T Recordings and be more selective with our dj gigs, because we are now also concentrating on other music productions. We are professionals and have families, so we have to earn money to make our living. And unfortunately trance music is not selling well in these days.
Q: You say in your press release – that “hopefully the whole music industry will “re-vitalize“ soon and become what it was 5 years ago. But that’s not in our hands but in yours, because it’s you who will decide how to support the music you love.” What do you feel is different now? Are your record sales affected by illegal music sharing?
A: The trance market shrinked to 15-20 % of what it used to be. People prefer sucking down the music from the peer 2 peer networks all around the globe. The only difference for us is: Superstars like Eminem or Madonna still sell millions of CD’s or legal mp3’s via iTunes or other platforms, but underground music is dying because there’s not that big marketing budget to create a hype and a global demand. We only sell between 1000 and 2000 vinyls at the moment, for comparison: “Can u dig it” or “God music” sold 10 times the amount of vinyls being sold today. That’s a very scary development.
Q: Do you enjoy performing here in Australia? What are your plans if any, to tour here again in 2005?
A: We love to play in your country. And we have build a friendly relationship with the Aussie promoter, so it’s like we are coming down for vacations every time. And lucky us, we are back for a 2 weeks tour in Australia from the 9th until the 18th of december. We will perform in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane. And we are very very looking forward to it.
Q: Can we expect any new tracks released from Dumonde any time soon?
A: Our single “Blue Monday 2005” just has been released on Centralstation Records as we speak. And there’s also a new vinyl on our own label F8T coming out in the next weeks. It’s called “JamX & De Leon present Chaos part 2. It contains an X900 remix from our old song “Warriors” and a re-work of the DJ Gert Mix of “Keep it that way”... These two songs have been requested a lot to get re-released, and now we decided to do it. Also you can expect a new DuMonde single to be released during X-mas time. And you definitely can hear all these tracks during our dj sets, when we spin down under.
Q: Where do you feel the scene in general is headed? Is it very different to what you were involved with say 5 years ago?
A: Well, it seems like trance music is not so popular anymore in these days. But isn’t it strange, that the top 6 DJ’s of the world are playing trance music? Everywhere where we play, our own music is very much requested, but generally we have the impression that techno and house music are more dominating the dance scene at the moment.
Q: What would you say your career highlight/s are to date?
A: We had so many great times to remember, it’s hard to say, but Japan 2002, our first dj tour in Australia in 2003 and the Gatecrasher and Godskitchen residencies in 2001-2002 are in very good memories, not to forget about the big festivals in Europe, such as Trance Energy, Mysterland or the German Nature One, where we played into the dawn in front of 30 000 people.
Q: Finally, do you have anything you would like to say to your fans down under?
A: We are very much looking forward to meet you during our December tour!
Thanks guys!
