Review: DJ Dan @ Boa

Well the night ended all to early for me, but thank you everybody for the awesome energy! Brian Cox and DJ Dan both threw it down, with hard, deep, funky, electric house. Surprising for somebody like me, who listens to mostly trance, I actually recognized most of the tunes tonight.

Again happy birthday to Tristan, who truly knows how to rock on his bday!

Tunes of the night:

Josh Wink - Higher state of Consciousness (Remix ?) - upstairs

Coldplay - Clocks (Cosmos Remix) - downstairs.

DJ Dan is the bomb.. no question about it!

It was good to see everyone out tonight.. the familiar faces, the new faces and some ppl that aren't even TA's that I haven't seen in ages... what a night it was (and I finally met beatjunkie after all these parties.. hahaha)

Tristan.. again, happy birthday hun! I hope your birthday was everything you hoped it would be and more. You Rock!

Now on to the afterparty

I concur.

I got in around 2 AM to the sounds of Daft Punk samples being played in a house track (the Homework album's tracks "Burnin'" and "Oh Yeah") by (I think) DJ Dan. DJ Dan was certainly good on the decks. The Higher State of Consciousness remix was certainly rocking.

Good to meet up with a bunch of TAs including the amazing sauga ppl (Niveole, beatjunkie - glad I was able to surprise someone with my presence !, Engine9), Eric repruhzenting Etobicoke, Ben, joinT (happy bday!), neetah, the TA Pope.

This was my first time at Boa (never went to the old location). It's an ok place.

I guess we got there around 3:30 and found a pretty full club rockin out. We entered downstairs which I thought was odd.

I was surprised to see the booth is still set up where it was at sound emporium. I recall there being major setup issues with the booth in that location when it was SE. Anyways, those seem to have been resolved because the sound was better than I expected.

I wasn't super duper impressed with Dan or Bryan's sets - Dan was the better one, Bryan's formula of hard house got to repetitive after awhile. However, I had a good time just sitting on one of those awesome couches and checking out the scenery. (love love all the seating, it is so necessary and important to have in a good club, I think!)

Really looking forward to going back.

Jeff and the other TAs I ran into (tordan, KURFEWWWWWW) - nice to see you guys again. I don't get out very much anymore, I realized!

I couldn't enjoy myself as much as I wanted to because:

1. Although I wasn't tired, I didn't have the enthusiasm in my, partly because I still had the effects of being drugged.
2. It was waaaay too hot.
3. It was a bit crowded

BUT

It was a Grrreat night! First time going to the new Boa. Thought the downstairs was dull but upstairs is really nice. Not quite the same as the old Boa, but definately a good substitute once I get used to it. The SOUND!!! It feels so good to hear that sound system again....I must of creamed like 12 times just feeling the bass lol. I wasn't expecting to see so many beautiful women With the TA ladies there the hotness factor raised to 11/10. Happy B-day again to Tristen; I only saw you once early in the night and then I didn't see you again unfortunately. Shouts to the regular TAs who are always the soul of the parties <3. OMGw00T the tunage that was played!

Pryda - Aftermath x 2 (upstairs and downstairs)
For Sale - Buy Now x 2
Roger Sanchez Feat. GTO - Turn On The Music (Axwell Remix)

SIKK - MY WASHING MACHINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I couldn't have been a happier Cribby the moment that was dropped...and of course Miluska's song was played and I had to dance it for her...and I must say I did a great job lol...and that song was...

FULL BLOWN - SOME KIND OF FREAK (INGROSSO REMIX)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a killer tune....DJ Dan definately impressed me. I was expecting chicago house from him, which I wasn't exactly in the mood for. But thank god he played like he did. Left a little bit before 4 am so I didn't get to check out Brian Cox. Now...it's time to dance once again...

*starts dancing*

anyways heres my full review. completely honest.

was in etobicoke earlier just drinkin at a firends going away party and my friend mauro was like "i need to get the fuck out of here and have a real night, u want to go downtowen?" everybody said no0 and i was like hey what the hell lets go downtown. we were dressed up pretty bumish just chillin so we didnt have too many choices. dance2dabeat had told me to come by earlier to boa for tristans bday so we decieed to drop by quickly say whats up to everyone, wish him a happy bday, have a beer and then leave and go somewhere else. however when we got in entrance was 25 so we decided we're not leaving since we paid soo much. so we got in. and like usual it was great to see all u guys. i have to say u guys were the best thing abtthis party. everything else kinda sucked :S wasnt feeling the music too much. the crowd was more cracked out then usual, and too many shirtless fags running around. all in all, i have to say, i dont know how u guys can put up with that stuff till 9 am. well i do . but i just think last night was fuckin awful.

it was good to see everyone like i said that must have been the highlight of my night seeing the ta's and ta's i havent seen in a long time. just some mentions of the ppl i havent seen for a while that i was happy as hellt o see, steve, jeff , my man sean goodnet, kurfew, kevin. the rest of u punks i see quite often and prolly saw u on halloween. but like usual i was happy as hell to see u guys too. met a few new additions to ur crew :P cool ppl.

anyways back to work.

highlight of the night was my man mauro gettin a few drinks in him and starting to act stupid (after he droppd kel's camera).

btw he thought the place was cracked, so not his scene lol. and he couldnt grasp the fact that in these clubs if a girl comes up to talk to you it doesnt mean shes intrested

and btw steve my friend mauro was offended u were putting down taping and drywall guys............but im with u, fuck those sluts

my first time going to all house/non trance event
and i can say it was pretty boom! I love Boa's new venue, its spacy and cool in the basement, with amazingly trippy lights on the 2nd floor.

I liked about half of Dj Dan's set, and got really tripped out when staying inside the crowd. I think those flashy lights are on pretty much all the time, made me loose my mind for a good 20 mins lol

I probably stayed downstairs more tho, i duno the music there was just more my thing, more melody, also more room to dance there and not as hot.

Big up to MagikB i finally met you,
you seem really nice and energetic =)
Wadap Shawn nice seeing you too bro!
Mona, Marius, Sasha and all u know we tear it up
