What's your style of beat matching?

Do you touch the vinyl to push/pull it to align your beats (obviously adjusting the pitch control attempting to maintain the match) or do you not touch the vinyl and simply use the pitch fader to beat match (no hands on the vinyl).

Pros and Cons for both? I know adjusting with your hands, it's noticable and you can hear it (hear the big dogs do it all the time)

Just curious what others do and why? And what you've "heard" about it.

When its live i dont touch the vinyl......but when its cueing up in my headphones ill touch it

ive found that moving the pitch back and forth in an upwards or downwards motion is more effective and sounds smoother

oh also when its going live i will touch the nipple....lets you fine tune the beat and isnt noticable

i'm all about the touching...
if it's mid-mix and the vinyl needs some fine-tuneing, then i'll just give it a slight push or pull, cause by that time it's really close in pitch that it's not really noticeable

during cueing i push the vinyl for big shifts and use the "nipple" (hehe, never heard someone call it that before) for fine tuning, when im actually mixing and it becomes off its usually never more than a fraction off so i use the nipple only. to slow it down i always put my finger on the platter (where the dots are). i've never practiced using the pitch for adjustment so i guess i still have some more learning to do.
