FL problems

Hi guys! I have a problem in FL Studio 5. At the beginning everything is running great. But after adding 5 and more new synthies, everything is running much more slower and with every new synthy the sound quality is poorer and the sound is cracking so much, that i can't hear almost nothing. I must first convert the work in mp3 so i can hear the good quality sound. Everything is running so slower that when i press the start button, it takes 10 seconds until it starts to run. I can not work on this way. I have realy great ideas in the head, but unfortunatly my PC doesn't permit me to produce
I have AMD Athlon 3000+ (2167mhz), HD 160 GB, 512 RAM, and a normal soundcard C-Media Xear3D, or i don't know what.
What do you thing? What is wrong? Does somebody has or had the same problems?? By how much added VSTs does your problems start?

well the sw synths have something wrong with them i think

512 ram is not good enough.. you need atleast 1gb ram and i dont know your soundcard. is it a pro audio one? do you have asio drivers? your computer is good enough otherwise, if you fix ram and soundcard you should be able o run atleast 10 of those you mentioned. check the FAQ on the stikies.

also turn smart disable on (in the mixers menu) every time you add new fx plugins and consider bouncing your ssynths to audio tracks to keep your cpu low. and tell us about your soundcard and the drivers you are using

increase latency in options.

switch on smart disable for your vstis and vsts.

get asio drivers (www.asio4all.com).

increase ram to 1024mb or greater.

yeah sw synths are buggy. at the beginning of your song let each sw ring out for about a full bar then start your track (it kind of needs to warm up in some cases). also, if you have a a specific track that is already complete and will be unchanged, you should probably just export to wav or 320kbs mp3 and then bring them back into the playlist.

I have a pc with much lower specs, and it can cope with those softsynths. I think using asio drivers if you're not already using them will do the trick.

Or it could be a virus/spyware. It wouldn't do any harm to have a thorough scan.

What a bunch of #$%%#. 1 GB will do you no good with substractive synthesis. You'll need a lot of ram when using sample based synths such as atmosphere or kontakt, not for albino or superwave.

512 mb ram should be sufficient in this case.
Problems could be your windows installation (or all the 'extra' unnecessary installed software). Or your CPU, soundcard, or (lack of) asio drivers.
a 10 second latency is probably because of the drivers, asio4all could be the solution as I think was already mentioned. It will probably increase the performance a lot, but it will not be perfect yet.
