in 1970's technics came out with the direct drive 1200 turntable series. today djs use cd players combined with theire direct drive turntables and there mixers to mix records or cds with.
they adjust the speed of both songs so that they are the same and make a smooth transition. the use of eqs is also very common among EDM djs.

naw zild i cant even credit him with asking that.
eFeKz - if you ask stupid questions you are gonna get even stupider answers.
to some up your post you asked "how do you mix like armin for example?" which is a question no1 will be able to give you an adequate answer to. the best you're gonna get from some of the less sarcastic DJs in the DJ Booth is "practice. practice. practice. learn to work the EQs. learn harmonic mixing. learn to ride the pitch instead of using ur hands on the platter."
there are a few threads that go into more detail about mixing techniques.

I belive Armin uses some compressors on his stream to give it a more "punch" and deeper sounding music... Everyone else has said it, with turntables / cdjs and a mixer, many years of experince and pratice.

FM Compression, and add a little bit of reberb.
Makes it sound nice and arminish.

Just go to the production studio and post a thread with the words sidechaining and compressor in the title.

I did, actually. I read it as asking, "How do people like Armin mix tracks together so well?" If I was incorrect, sorry, but that's how I read it.

If your question is along the lines of mixing skill then yes, it's years of practice that make you that good.
Good EQ skills
Good beat matching skills
And above all a good ear for keys and track selection.
With regards to finished product it's more down to how you record it.
Again, good cables. Respect the levels on your recording equipment and realise that you are not going to get a great result from a tape deck.
Use a good CD recorder or record to harddrive, avoid clipping and then a gentle master just to give it a bit of sheen is always a nice idea.
Not sure I understood the question if that's not what you meant.
