seems to me the easiest way of doing it would be taking pictures of all the lights at various stages, and then putting it together like a cartoon on a puter.
I dont think they could do it like that for real, unless the person in the house had a crazy controller with all the lights hooked up to it.

they most likely did have some sort of controlled circuit - not too complicated, just takes lots of work and programming. my friend actually started on a similar design for school. its damn cool if u ask me... and definitely not over the top
