Rap

OK, so I really need a complete picture of your opinion on rap.
I listen to alot myself, my brother does, and alot of my friends too, but that's not the reason why I listen to it.
'cause rap really has some impressive beats sometimes, and if you take a look on the underground, serious rappers you'll see they rap about alot more serious, and good things.

So whats your opinion?

rap is alright for me if taken lightly in small doses

much of the mainstream rap i cant stand at all, with the exception of kanye and a few others. i still listen to big and 2pac occasionally.

I do enjoy good hip-hop, especially the more hard-edged old-skool sound. More mainstream stuff I take as I take any pop music: I like the inventive or well-written stuff and ignore the rest.

I was pretty iffy on the whole hip-hop thing for a long time. One track changed that, though, where I suddenly realized just how good the music could be. I didn't exactly become obsessed with the music after that, but I definitely kept my ear to the ground, checking out what else was out there, and discovering some truly ace material in the process.

The track?

Wu-Tang Clan - C.R.E.A.M.

Nice to hear from you guys, and even nicer to hear your opinions.

Zoric, it's not like you think, there's plenty of modern, good rappers/grimers, producers and DJs.
For example I'm going to "The Ocean" on 26th this month. Gubb (Swe) and Gatas Parlament (Norway) will be there, and it's gonna rock. Gubb is one helluva good one, that's what I meant.

Just keep your eyes on the underground scene and you'll find plenty of talents.

hm. wish i had more time i could spend on exploring hiphop and digging for underground stuff. there's just so much quality stuff to discover through the years..

i usually much prefer the eastcoast stuff from the golden era,
there were such a great amount of dope hiphop produced at that time.
recently bought this record which was very slept on when it was released. such a great feeling through this album even though it isnt the best out there. however, flip da scrip and tears are two reasons as good as any to own this album.

but im also into alot of the jazzy side of hiphop like digable planets, brand nubian, yaggfu front, dream warriorz and ofcourse atcq etc.

as i mentioned earlier i really dont have time to keep up with new stuff released. primo still produces some joints like the come up for az. even though he's pretty much repeating himself since around '94 when he had his best year so far IMO.. but why fix something that isnt broken

the only thing i really can't stand is crunk, g-funk and commercial sissyrap. our swedish rap scene is also very bad, i havent heard anything decent in years. perhaps i havent been looking hard enough but i feel most stuff is just bland and uninspired.
