It will happen and i dont think it will take a 100 years, i think its gonna happen much sooner, probably in less than 50 years.

not going to happen. based on what? exports? ok maybe. how about economy? when you have cheap labor force you're not going to get anywhere. they could build up their industry and military all they want. capitilism is the only system that actually works.

China is a lot more capitalist than you'd think. For a communist nation, they seem to have a lot of curiously free-tradelike policies. If any country will be #1, it will be China, since the US seems to be at that corrupt and stupid stage near the end, ala the Roman Empire before the fall. China on the other hand is becoming more and more open to new things and open to playing the system to get what they want.

But yeah, they face some serious problems; so many people is a great thing for production, but it means that they risk losing huge numbers of people to various natural and unnatural disasters and epidemics. We also have no idea where the governments of the world will be in 100 years; wouldn't it be amusing then if France ended up being #1 in 2105?

actually i know quiet alot about China. And it's still eons away. Also, comparing the Roman Empire and the US in the modern world is also off.

France number one? ....... ... ...onders and fathoms:...nah

China has a looong way to go.
Lets not forget they had to change their ways or go the way of the dodo like their worldly brethren and that their government can do whatever it wants sans civil liberties.
Their government may be 'for the people' but it's far from being 'about the people'. Until they embrace private ownership and a private entrepreneurial spirit, they base their economy on a reverse deck of cards that ironically, Western ideals will take advantage of until their crash.
Until then, it's get in and make a quick buck before their people get a whiff of freedom and revolution occurs.

There have been great empire and superpowers in this world and all of them have been replaced with another country.

Don't you guys remember Iran being the worlds first ever superpower under the legion of Darius and Cyrus when the Persian Empire ruled more than 80% of the world.. now look what happened. Look at Greece, Rome etc.

All of them were superpowers stronger than anything on the face of earth, so what makes you think America would be able to survive, haha.. sheez.

Because it's still steadily growing. I could give you a few books why Persia is a lame example. Mostly because it wasn't a free empire. Therefore it's soldiers (now remmember that militarism was always the most important part of any empire in the past) were all slaves and wouldn't fight as loyally and disciplined as the Western Greece and Romans would. Hence, Persia kept getting it's ass kicked by tiny Greek city-states and then ofcourse a bad ass-whuping from Alexander the Great himself.

It's a long way away if it will ever happen. Their banking industry is a complete mess first of all. Second of all as China becomes richer and richer, standards of living will improve and they'll lose their competitive edge on labor to poorer countries. At this point, in order to surpass the US as an economic superpower they need to focus on achieving technological supereority, not industrial supereority.

you seemed to have missed my point and overshadowed it with some lame comment.

OK, you want to talk about Greece? Sure they were a powerful nation after Persia went down? But if a nation like Persia and Greece can go down, why do you actually think America isn't going to go. By the way it's playing the game, i give America less than 50 years to go down.

my point is, what makes you so confident that America will not follow suit. America is run by corrupt politicians and many blinded arrogant followers. You don't think they will follow suit of these two great empires?

And you can bring up any theory about why you think Persia might have been that way but remember, they were a superpower of 80% of the world, still have yet to see any other superpower ever gain that much landmass.

They were strong, so don't bring up any stupid comments. Persia when under Cyrus and Darius were unbeatable. When these 2 Kings died, it was overrun by corrupt persians who were too confident by their stand on the world and they lost vision.

America will do the same.

it doesn't surprise me at all china is on her way to become # 1 in 50 yrs or something ...in so many fields now China is already number 1 ....i've read a lot of magazines about this subject and what was scary is that they send a lot of spy all around the world to copy the technics ....a lot of chinese students turn to work for the government and all
and my dad he is an engineer in aeronautic for EADS the ones who are building the airbus 380 and others planes told me the chinese accept to buy the planes if they can have some technics and plans .....otherwise they simply refuse all they want is the know how so they can do it again by themselves

Doubtful. The U.S. has a lot of problems, but they are nothing compared to China's, where corruption has been engrained in their culture for millennia.
