How fast do you like to hear Trance played at ?

I'm more of a Hard NRG DJ so find myself pitching my Trance up a bit too much sometimes. My mate's a Trance head and is always telling me to slow down.

What's the general consensus ?

Depends on the type.
Generally, I like to hear it about 140-144 (i.e. standard trance records pitched up by a notch or two.)

But that wouldn't work with deeper proggier stuff which I also enjoy; that has to be early 130s for me to enjoy it.

There are great trance records at many tempos, but I prefer them when they bang along at around 140. Not so fast it sounds forced, but still packed with energy.

some sound good slow, like the perfecto edit of mansun - wide open space is about 120bpm but some are good in the mid 130s but my main speed for 'trance' would be 138-152bpm unless im playing old hardtrance which is 160-180bpm and then hardcore after that, with the faster 220bpm+ fun also

trance should be played at +4 atleast and if the original bpm is less than 135 then it's always +8. trance is a fast (well not that fast) subgenre and should be played fast. it sickens me to hear trance tracks produced at 130 played at 130 just because they can pass it out as not being trance because it's cheesy or some other stupid reason
