Scott RIchardson - Fallen (DEMO)

hey all,

Been a while since i posted something. I started this a couple weeks ago. It's really my first serious attempt at using something other than Reason for production. Using Ableton this time, with a V Station and Virus B Hardware Synth.

This is only the intro of the tune, but would still like your feedback all the same. Im mostly interested in wether or not the sound itself is quality. I have been trying really hard to get my sound quality / production quality up from where it was... to a more pro level.

This is a rolling melodic trancer. Not re-inventing any wheels here, just trying for something nice and smooth.

Regards

Scottie

production wise: the kick sounds fine but the bassline needs some work... it shoudl be a little deeper and louder.

i don't like those transitions at all, the kick rolls into the next bar are too abrupt. the gated saw sounds fine, but the melodies on these instruments i don't like, just a style thing i guess.

definately better than the last song i heard from you... you're improving pretty fast

mayeb I need a sub bass? I really only have one bass synth at the moment, which is the rolling one.

But im basing my sound off a lot of anjuna stuff.. and a lot of their stuff only has a simple bassline that does not extend too deep

i prefer deep basslines... just my style, because to me: a kick being the only thing to dominate the low end of a track sounds too empty

see I like it when the kick stands out... rather than more of a blur between the kick and bass.

depends on your side chaining and mastering etc of course

hey scottie.

definitely an improvement from the last thing i heard from you. as nishant said the bass could use a bit more depth. it sounded fine until you started adding those little higher notes. i like the gated synth, but that kinda siney/square synth isn't really doing it for me. i'd like something a bit more legato and smooth.

keep it up man, i like the dreamy direction this is headed.
