Alias's

I was wondering today why the majority of well known trance djs (Tiesto, PvD, Armin, Ferry, Marco V) do not release stuff under aliases or collaborate with other artists.

For example all the different aliases and colllaborations Ferry was invlovled in, now he only seems to release stuff under 'Ferry Corsten'.

I wondered whether anyone could suggest why this is so?

I think it might have something to do with legal matters. Back in the day, these artists had to shop their tunes around to many labels in order to get them released and as a result they had to come up with a new alias each time they switched labels. Now that these artists are rich and famous and have their own labels, they don't need to do this.

yeah i can understand that.

Would fit in well why some people are still doing aliases, Sander van Doorn is the obvious example

they used to pump tunes out with different styles a lot more back then, now their famous and only release the odd song that goes under their name to keep them popular. They spend a lot more time djing than they used to and make more money off gigs and their labels. Most new producers still have aliases but once u get to the top, u gotta stay on top and promote/market urself..at least thats definately what it seems like for the top 4. Its all a marketing machine now.

also agree with above post
