Dj Woody -A crowd Magnet

In Los Angeles is, everyone is a DJ. But DJ’s that can feed off the dance floor’s hunger and can work a crowd are few and apart. In, comes Jesse Alexander, better known as DJ Woody.

Woody is a crowd magnet. Having worked the crowds since the early raving days of 1992, Woody’s magnetic formula for dance floor success is simple: “feed the people what they want to dance to, while adding your own flavor to the mix.” “It’s obvious that when people go clubbing they want to dance. If they wanted to just listen to music and stand around, they would stay home and listen to a CD. It’s a DJ’s responsibility to make sure everyone is dancing. If I have an empty dance floor, I’m not doing my job,” said Woody.

His formula has taken him to cities many miles apart and to clubs many DJ’s dream of. The year 2005 has been one of Woody’s most successful years to date. In February he launched his monthly residency at Element in Anaheim, and his first ever-mini tour with stops in Los Angeles, Miami, San Diego, Tijuana, Mexicali, and The OC kicked off in March.

As if that wasn’t enough, Summer 2005 was the most interesting fun filled summer yet. With regular appearances at clubs such as Midi and Bellagio plus many one night events, Woody’s sound was blooming. Then in August, his popularity finally caught up to him. While driving home one night, Woody’s phone rang. Not knowing whom it was, Woody answered. To his surprise, it was a Spundae promoter who asked him to play there. URB Magazine named Spundae the number one dance club in the USA. As with many Spundae first timers, Woody got a shot at an early set at in the backroom. Within the third song into his set, he filled to capacity the normally empty room.

Later in the summer, with the help of close friend Michelle Garrity, Woody proved himself by hosting his own night on the Spundae loft. With just a little over two weeks promotion, Woody and Michelle pulled the biggest crowd the Spundae loft has seen to date.
Promoters took notice, and as a result, several out of town gigs flourished including some in San Diego and Mexico.
