wellenrausch - carry on
hello peeps
just wondering what the fecking feck is going on with this track?
i contacted torsten fassbender back in august and he said it was ment to be coming out in september in time witht the release of tpod2.
wellenrausch's site also says due out september 05.
so after a no-show in sept, i contacted alpha-omega records who have it due for release.
unlike the friendly and helpfull response i got from torsten in litterally minutes, i got a shady and sarcastic response 3 weeks later from some dude who's clearly up his own arse.
they said that they were doing the video and wanted to do the release properly and the "right way". bla bla bla.
turns out back on the news section of wellenrausch's site, they did the video for carry on back in november 2004.
i like this track quite a bit (fassbender mix) and i have wanted a copy for months. the thing is, i aint gonna wait around forever for some bunch of upstarts at some obscure label to release it 5 years after ive heard the likes of pvd bash it to death.
i really sympathise with some of you guys who get frustraited with labels messing about and holding tracks back because after 12 months of waiting you just get fed up.
i cant understand some of these people who are in charge of these labels because its one thing and fair enough to plug a track and promote it but another thing to let hype go to your head and hold the track back for a year or more just to fuck everyone off.
this alpha omega lot, after looking on their site, just like so many other self obsessed bastards in the music industry are so far up their own arses. anyone who makes a company website which wanks over its self so much as they do obviously are in it for the publicity rather to run a business which supplys quality music.
its beyond me that these guys fail to see that the more a tune gets over played while its held back for months on end, damages its sales potential. you can bleat on about filesharing and illegal downloads but if you hold a tune back for so long without any positive news of a release date then people will get fed up and just not buy it.
if its not out before the end of jan or early feb then they can forget it. no offence to wellenrausch but its obviously the label just like many others that are sitting on good tracks and damaging their potential and in turn hurting the artists who make them.
i fully agree with the guys who complain about vandit too.
i do personally believe that 6months is perfectly enough time to promote, film a video (if needed) and distribute for sale. any longer than 6 months then you are damaging sales by the day.
anjuna releases are usually within either side of 6 months, if they and many other labels can do it then why cant the rest? if you cant put a record on the market and offer the artist a deal that says you can then DONT sign the record up!!!!.
if there are problems with the release with legal issues or copywrite or whatever then be honest and tell the buying public whats going on. thats the whole point of having websites, thats the whole point of promotion and not to sit on a release and only lapping up the hype without being able to produce the goods.
