Effect Processor Question

Okay guys this is a bit of a thinking situation...
You know how with a single effects processor, like lets say you have only one pioneer efx500 or a korg kaoss pad 2, you can only connect it to either on the left cd player channel or the right cd player channel OR you can connect it to the master output so that both channels will be effected by the effects, right?
well, how can i do it (lets say perhaps by using some switch or several adapters or cables etc) so that as the DJ, i can switch the switch to sidde A so the effect processor can apply to ONLY that left side and then be able to switch to the B switch so that the effect processor can apply to ONLY the right side?

(normally this problem is overcome by buying two individual effects processors, one for each channel, but im thinking, theres GOTTA be a cheaper, more efficient solution)

i came up with a logical map of how the setup would look (im sure this way would work, but anyone can think of any easier solution?)
also anyone know if that mystery piece in the pic exists?

here it is...

your answer young jedi lies in the myterious powers of the FX loop. most mixers have this. usually you will have a send switch on each channel that when ingaged will send the audio from that channel to the effect out on the mixer, effect out to input on FX box, output from fx box back to fx loop input on mixer. then you usually have another knob that mixes the input from the return back into your main mix.

Sorry to tell ya, but you're going to need to upgrade your mixer to be able to do all that you want to do. Without an effects loops you are either only going to be able to effect the master output only or one channel only, and you won't be able to cue it prior to throwing it in the mix.

your diagram might work, but you'd find it pretty confusing with all those switches, and probably find the sound quality to be pretty poor. you'd be better off getting a better mixer with send and returns
