You're talking to someone on Skype at 4am when your stereo volume is up at 30 out of 50 and that is loud as all fucking fuck (thanks JVC MX-J56) and you throw your arms down in disgust at the other person's comment and you pull your headphone cord out of the stereo and holy fuck voices at HUGE VOLUME HOLY FUCK

I've done that. The reciever I have lets you use headphones and speakers at the same time, so you actually have to turn the speakers off late at night.

One time I threw on my headphones and cranked the volume. My parents awoke to The Ramones shaking the house.

Or everybody in your house is sleep, and you are watching a action movie(Bad Boys). You plug in your head phones, and crack the volume. And as soon as some bad guy gets blown away, you realise that you never turned off the rear surround sound speakers, and the entire house is now up.

My sister did that with "Running with the Devil" by Van Halen when she was 14... she only had the headphones 1/2 plugged in so it was in her headphones AND her speakers! Didn't go over very well with my very christian parents at 230 in the morning!
