Most auctions usually have geographical restrictions set by the seller which in theory the bidder cannot get around.
But usually if you email before auction closing you can sometimes make an agreement with the seller for him to ship outside the designated countries, some accept, others are d*cks about it.

You also have to take into accounts fine print in the auction like:
Shipping to confirmed paypal adress only ( meaning the seller will only ship to the adress the paypal account is linked to ).

I would suggest bidding, if you win the auction email the seller and explain the situation and try to have him ship directly to you ( if that's what you want ). If he refuses see about getting it paid for your german friend with his paypal account ( but the auction will remain with your ebay account ).

I've made a bid on this item now, but it says that somebody has made a higher maximum bid! wtf is this? Why is there a maximum bid that isn't being displayed? I think it's unfair..I've raised my bids directly afterwards and there is still somebody who has a higher bid. I don't get it - what's the point of auctions if you can't see what the current maximum bid is?
