How to get that "tech" sound?

I was wondering how you can create the "tech" sound you hear in a lot of tracks these days..
like the first minute of Bart Claessen - Playmo (1st Play)
or Abel Ramos - Aquarius (Randy Katana Dubdown Remix)

any suggestions?

It's generally a combination of a hard kick, fast (16th-note) bassline, high bpm, little if any tonal content, and sounds that are either tribal or electronic in nature.

Distortion. Carefully used but a *lot* of distortion.
