Most underrated American is:
Henry Clay.
He was the Great fucking compromiser, c'mon people. I always hear "Abe lincoln was a great president! #1 american!"
But if it wasn't for Henry clay, the civil war would have started years before lincoln would even become president.
Things like the Missouri Compromise, and The Compromise of 1850 set up the civil for a time which couldn't have been better.
